My friend Ang, an urban planner, approached me to design a poster for an upcoming student conference for the
Michigan Association of Planning.
These were my boundaries:
+ tabloid size
+ one color, in order to minimize print costs
The theme for this conference is "The Future of Planning," which according to this conference is a harmony between old, new, and natural. I wanted to avoid kelly green, which is ubiquitous when discussing Green matters, so I opted instead for a cooler green. I also made a version using maroon, the color designated to APA MI.
Regarding the graphic, which could also be interpreted as a logo:
I wanted to convey a strong relationship between the urban and the natural.
